The Jamia Karachi Alumni Association Houston (JKAAH) has revised its old constitution based on the recommendations of its committee members and the approval of 2/3 of the Board of Directors on April 20, 2024. The revised constitution addresses all major issues related to the functioning of JKAAH as a non-profit organization.
The key features of the new constitution were announced by the Finance Director during her address at the 4th Annual Event of JKAAH, held on April 26, 2024.
According to the new constitution, Article II, Clause (b) allows for the appointment of an Honorary Chairman, an Honorary Chairman Advisory Council, and two Honorary Directors to expand the Association’s reach among upstanding citizens in Houston and the state of Texas.
Additionally, in line with Article III, Clause (e) of the constitution, the Board of Directors present at the April 20, 2024 meeting unanimously approved the positions of elected President, Senior Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Finance Director as per the election held on January 18, 2023. It was also decided that the next elections will be held on January 17, 2027, and subsequently every four years unless modified by a 2/3 majority of the board members.
As per the new provision, the Board is pleased to appoint Mr. Siraj Narsi, a highly qualified individual with an engineering degree from NED University Karachi and an MBA from IBA Karachi, as the new Honorary Chairman effective April 2024. The remaining key positions will be announced by the Board of Directors in due course.
